Aloha Friday - Graduations

High School graduations are around the corner. I remember my HS Party.. it was in the beginning of the seventies. I received so many things as I was on my way to College(Seminary) in Cincinnati Ohio. Oh to be going away from home, my friends and family. A Sad Day but Joyful rolled up in one. Here are some photos of that Day.

My Question to you all:

It is now a New Century..What does one give a person Graduating and headed for College?

You can go to An Island Lifeto link up for Aloha Friday.

  1. For my graduation I received money mostly! I think a simple amount is good enough! I haven't known someone who's graduated for awhile so that hasn't come up much! Have a great Friday!

  3. I think money or maybe a Visa gift card would be welcome.

  5. What a great time it was in the early seventies!! Gotta love those pics...we have many that look very similar:) Now, I think everyone wants $$. I still like giving actual gifts, but I don't think people want them.

  6. Oh my. That's quite a party you had. We've got one coming up soon for our granddaughter.

Personal experience indicates that cash is the best gift. The recipient can spend it anywhere (unlike a gift card -- yuck!), and it doesn't have to be converted (like a check).

  9. I think my favorite gift was a tin can full of rolled quarters for the laundry machine - very useful.

  13. Cool pictures. Like others are saying - money. That was I think my #1 thing I got, and what I would give to someone now that is graduating. Can't go wrong with that.

  18. Speaking as a high school teacher and one who has recently had graduates in the house...gift cards! Bed, Bath and Beyond comes to mind. Or the Container Store. Two of my faves!!
