And Life Goes On....

This was to be posted on Tuesday, but when Tuesday came it was Ruby Tuesday...Then Wordless Wednesday..so... I little late but here it is, Real Tuesday post on Thursday (they both start with a T,lol)

The Three Loves of my Family
Hubby, Daughter, My Dad

Here in Sunny, well most of the time, Virginia Beach. We arrived by Auto, drove the back roads- way less traffic, on Saturday. First thing I did was Bake a cake, oh not just any cake, a healthy Carrot cake with low sugar cream cheese frosting. Dad, Family and I nursed it all weekend long! Being Cake week over at Lisa's.. Stop and Smell the Chocolate cause the cake fetish. Then we went on Father/Daughter dates. Hubby took daughter to see Night of the Museum. Dad and I saw StarTrek, me for the second time. We all enjoyed our movies.
Sunday we went to church, early service. The minister talked about Collards in his sermon. that got me thinking Lunch, Not good to talk food in church, trying to stay focused on the right things are hard once food is mentioned. Okay, so I fixed...yes you got it Collard Green for Lunch. Barbie chicken, Collard Greens and Corn on the cob, how southern can you get.
Now to the Tractor. It's a red Wizard with a Briggs and Stratton engine, bought by hubby and me in 1989. We lived on a farm in Missouri. Hubby was stationed there. We rented a 19 acre farm. All the farm grass cutting and farming activities made it necessary to get one. When we moved to Korea the tractor went to Mom and Dads. That is where it is to this day. It was not working , thought it had passed on to the tractor heaven..Not so! We managed to shock it back to life using the cars' Life source. Today it will start it new life working for Dad's Yard.

Aloha Friday#9- It's All About Cars.

This has been a week filled with Cars. From the CocoaBeach Antique Auto Show to Renting a new car in Orlando. While in Orlando we rented a Matrix 2009. I was skeptical because I like big cars! It wasn't bad, rode nice and had a roomy feeling. Now my Dream Car would be a RED Convertible. I'm not to picky about the make and model. However I do like the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. Have always wanted a convertible ever since I was little. So now is the time for your Question:
What Would Your Dream Car Be?

What This! No Seat Assignments?

Wow, What a trip. All emotions covered, Sadness, Happiness, Excited, Surprise, Fear, Calmness, and Tiredness. This week I will be blogging about the trip on All my Blog sites. Each one will have a different aspect. We started out flying on a jet plane. Haven't been on one since 911. Was a little fearful of flying. The airport security and check in went smoothly. It was surprising because there were no seat assignment on our flight. It was open setting! Have never heard of that and Hubby was very skeptical. When I booked the flight a Nonstop one was preferred. Found that the airline site had the best rate. Try Cheap tickets, Priceline, Travelocity, and other sites found them were costly. So, went with the cheapest but well known airline, Southwest. Did everything online line from purchasing the tickets to printing our boarding passes, all that was easy. The boarding passes had a letter and a number (Like, L39). Decided to only take carry on bags, which was a good choice for us. There really wasn't any Check in for us. Went directly to the Gate and sat down to wait, after going through airport security. When it came time to board, We lined up by letter and number in order. Boarded the Plane and chose our seats! We all were impressed with this method. It was a very Calming experience. Our flight took two hours, we arrived earlier due to a good tail wind. I think all our flights will be Southwest nonstop for our trip OUT WEST coming up.

My "If I Could Blog Back Time -Thursdays" Blog was about Summer Vacations of the past. If you have time follow the link to read it, Very funny!!
Here is your Question:

What Was Your Most Memorable Summer Vacation as a Child?

In Memory of theFallen

Today is the start of Police Memorial Week. We are so blessed in this Country to have a Police Force made up of Men and Women who want to service our land. They sacrifice a lot for their jobs; Family time, Sometime Marriage, Sleep and most of all sometimes their Life. President John F Kennedy signed a Presidential Proclamation that set aside May 15 as National Peace Officers' Memorial Day. Each year now, for 25 years, Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S) has host a National Police Week. During this time all people come together to remember the fallen. There are Support groups for the families and Partners of the fallen Officers. Activities for the young, so they will know they are not alone in their grief. My mom was very active in this week. She was the President of Old Dominion C.O.P.S of Virginia, and later worked with the national C.O.PS Chapter.

In Titusville Florida there is a American Police Hall of Frame Museum(A.P.H.F.M). It has been there since 1960. I visited once with my Parents after my Grandfather was killed in the line of duty. His name was on the Wall of Fallen Offices. I remember that very well. Mom was so upset and as a child I just didn't understand. Now as an Adult I do! My Mom always wanted to go back there and place that one RED ROSE at his name. This Year I will be doing that, For Her and For Me. I leave on a Plane(which I am not fond of, since 911) tomorrow for a weekend of planned activities though the A.P.H.F.M.

A total of 18,661 Police officers have given their lives in our country. Last year we had 133 Killed in the line of duty. So this weekend and next week I will fly my Blue Ribbon in remembrance of the Fallen Officers. For their sacrifice was great.

A Mother's Day Gift. This is a Netbook by Acer,I have been wanting one for a while. It is small, as you can see ten inches. Will be easy to take on trips. The battery is good for eight hours of use. Memory is up to 3GB,pettey good for this compact computer. I am looking forward to using it on our trip out west, coming up this summer. Three weeks of fun. The Screen is a good size. I find it easy to use. The key pad size it good for my small hands. Have no problem typing or surfing. A gift I will enjoy for years to come. I'm going to make a Quilted bag carrier for it. Missing the Time!

Mother's Day Coming up this Sunday. Every Mother's Day For the Past 20 years I have spent it with my Mom. Through out my teen years, I was hard on my Mom. I wasn't a rebellious child just a - need my own life child. My Life was not suppose to be like my Moms. If you are older you know what I mean. That time one wants to see what the world is for their self. In my Thirties I figured out Moms Know Best. Did I turn out like Mom? Yes Kind of, I learned we like the same things. I looked like her and sometimes get that glimpse of her in me. Mother's Day 2007, I surprised her and showed up on Mothers day (about a 4 hour drive). I had told her I would not be able to come that year. I had been there through her chemo and had spent a lot of time Nursing her through the treatments. It just kept bothering me that I felt that way! So, a couple days before Mother's Day my hubby ask me what I wanted to do. I told him I really wanted to spend time with Mom, just her and I. We, called Dad to check if we could come on Mothers Day Weekend. She was so surprised, Dad said nothing to her. I took her to eat out. Just Mom and I, I really cherish that Day. It was the last Mothers Day together, I didn't know then it would be! Last year was a blur, yes I did get a garden fountain and I think we went out to eat. I just can't remember. I was missing Mom so much. This year I requested to go to the Cheese Cake Factory Restaurant. I still do not know how I will be feeling. I have a wonderful teen daughter. However, she is at that age of wanted to find her own way. Just today she told me she wanted to go to a movie with her friends this weekend and hang out with them. So today I feel down, not having a mother to wish Mother's Day to and not knowing if my daughter will follow the same path I did. Missing out on this teen time in life, sharing time with Mom, and cherishing the year soon to be gone. There is a song that really says how it is! I loved this song although it does make me Cry. Take a look--- Here is the link to the video; song by Trace Adkins " Your Gonna Miss This"

My Weekend With Critter.

What a weekend! Critter came for an overnight visit. We baked a cake, moved a fountain, played whiffle ball, played in Auntie's play ground(as Critter calls it) and picked chive grass(Critter loves to eat it). In the Evening we all sat on the deck with lights dimmed, fountains' fog machine going, Music on (oldies of course), eating Skinny Cow Ice Cream bars and playing with everything that lights up. Laughed so hard at critters dancing( Michael Jackson style) and fooling around. He is Pure Joy!!!!

Reading is one of my enjoyments. Any kind of Material, Mystery books, Historical Fiction, Self learning and helps, Cookbooks, Scifi, Traveling and even Maps. Yes Maps, always looking for a new place to visit! That got the brain working, some time it overworks anyhow, I wanted to log all the books I enjoyed reading through the years. Some will probably not be in stores, but in the Libraries. Libraries are wonderful for finding out of print books. During my years as a school librarian I joined several Book companies. One of them -The Junior Library Guild- publishes new release books. Some of these books are not available to the public at the time I receive them. Been with this group for eight years now. Will start next month adding the newer books to my Book Review Site. My Daughter is an avid reader. She has agreed to do some reviews for me. What a Joy!! The Book I chose for the start of the month is...."Solar Flare". You can read the review on Book Reviews by Auntie E Blog.
