Monday News- NSL On Vacation

We left on Friday headed for Hubby's hometown. The trip wasn't too bad. Critter is with us on this Northern Sun Loop ( NSL )trip. Traveling with a 6 year old and a 16 year old is very interesting. sometimes the16 yo wants to be treated as a 6 year old. Of course being Auntie E ,I have to spoil Crittter. Now there are many parks in this town so, we had to visit all of them. I think my 16 years old had just as much fun as critter did.
Our trip took about 8 hours. There was entertainment in the car. videos, cartoons and music. When we arrived at the Bed & Breakfast about 4 o'clock pm. It was great to see Peggy the owner. We haven't seen her in about 10 years. Last year she was booked so we stayed at a different B&B. We got two rooms this time and it was great. The kids in one and hubby and I alone. although the kids loved being in our room.
The Family reunion was on Saturday. We were able to see some folks whom I never met and hubby hasn't seen since he was a tot. It was nice to see them all. Critter had fun riding bikes and playing in the sand. The whole day was really spent with family, laughing and carrying on. Next year is hubbys 40th highschool reunion as well as the 150 year town celebration. That should very interesting, Had to make reservation now for that, due to the limited space in this small town.

On Sunday our plan was to go to Findley lake. I had never been there. However first a trip to the Fish hatchery. Last time we visit there was before we had Lyd, it was really fun. Finley Lake, as in the name, it is just a lake with a very tiny town snuggled around the Lake. Ate at the Blue Heron, food was good. There was some shops so we had to stop in. Prices were remarkably low so I purchased several things for Thanksgiving and Christmas, all for under 25 dollar total! We came back and visited some family.

Today we are off to Canada, a two hour drive. On today's agenda, visiting the Power plant, a nature park and check into the hotel. We want to take a helicopter tour of the falls at some point.

Heading Home Today

We have had an emotional time as well as some fun time here. Friday we spent the day on Cocoa Beach. Watched the Atlantis Shuttle lift off. By the way you will be able to see it at arriving at the International Space Station tonight around 10 pm.
Lyd found some Barnacles under the pier on the photo. We tried to go last night to see them but the water was high. Found a pair of sunglasses. If you lost them they are still under the Pier on the piling shelf.
That evening we had a memorial service for the Fallen Police Officers, there was a big group this year. More later this week on that.
Saturday we went to SeaWorld with all the Survivors. There were 9 buses of them. I hadn't been there since I was 10. Loved the Shamu show. More later this week..... for you a video of it.
Today we will decided what to do, there is many thing for us to choose from. Our flight doesn't leave til tonight, so we will have plenty of time. Stay tune for the detail on My Auntie E's On The Go blog on the right side bar. I will be blogging about it in real time from my phone.

While at Virginia Beach Virginia spending Easter with Dad, we went out to Easter Brunch. The Brunch was at 31st and Atlantic on the beach side at the Hilton. We hadn't been down that far in a long time. The Neptune park is there.

During the Neptune Festival in 2005 the Neptune statue was commissioned. This was the first time we all had seen it. Our lives were very busy during the time 2005-2008. My Mom being diagnosed with cancer and going through treatments during that time,then dealing with her final days on earth, We miss all the hoopla about it. With all the movies out on the Methodological gods, it was perfect timing.

Here in Sunny, well most of the time, Virginia Beach. We arrived by Auto, drove the back roads- way less traffic, on Saturday. First thing I did was Bake a cake, oh not just any cake, a healthy Carrot cake with low sugar cream cheese frosting. Dad, Family and I nursed it all weekend long! Being Cake week over at Lisa's.. Stop and Smell the Chocolate cause the cake fetish. Then we went on Father/Daughter dates. Hubby took daughter to see Night of the Museum. Dad and I saw StarTrek, me for the second time. We all enjoyed our movies.
Sunday we went to church, early service. The minister talked about Collards in his sermon. that got me thinking Lunch, Not good to talk food in church, trying to stay focused on the right things are hard once food is mentioned. Okay, so I fixed...yes you got it Collard Green for Lunch. Barbie chicken, Collard Greens and Corn on the cob, how southern can you get.
Now to the Tractor. It's a red Wizard with a Briggs and Stratton engine, bought by hubby and me in 1989. We lived on a farm in Missouri. Hubby was stationed there. We rented a 19 acre farm. All the farm grass cutting and farming activities made it necessary to get one. When we moved to Korea the tractor went to Mom and Dads. That is where it is to this day. It was not working , thought it had passed on to the tractor heaven..Not so! We managed to shock it back to life using the cars' Life source. Today it will start it new life working for Dad's Yard.

What This! No Seat Assignments?

Wow, What a trip. All emotions covered, Sadness, Happiness, Excited, Surprise, Fear, Calmness, and Tiredness. This week I will be blogging about the trip on All my Blog sites. Each one will have a different aspect. We started out flying on a jet plane. Haven't been on one since 911. Was a little fearful of flying. The airport security and check in went smoothly. It was surprising because there were no seat assignment on our flight. It was open setting! Have never heard of that and Hubby was very skeptical. When I booked the flight a Nonstop one was preferred. Found that the airline site had the best rate. Try Cheap tickets, Priceline, Travelocity, and other sites found them were costly. So, went with the cheapest but well known airline, Southwest. Did everything online line from purchasing the tickets to printing our boarding passes, all that was easy. The boarding passes had a letter and a number (Like, L39). Decided to only take carry on bags, which was a good choice for us. There really wasn't any Check in for us. Went directly to the Gate and sat down to wait, after going through airport security. When it came time to board, We lined up by letter and number in order. Boarded the Plane and chose our seats! We all were impressed with this method. It was a very Calming experience. Our flight took two hours, we arrived earlier due to a good tail wind. I think all our flights will be Southwest nonstop for our trip OUT WEST coming up.

Traveling 2 the West -here we come.

Planning a summer trip to the West U.S.A. States. The dates have been set, 20 days in July. Vacation time submitted. So, Now we start the itinerary.
When I was about 12 my parents planed a trip through the west. I remember it well. We were going to move to Upstate New York. My Father was going to Minister at a church in Belmont. The Money was not going to be enough to support us. So, it was suggested by a missions group to raise support. Mom and Dad Planed a trip to visit several Churches. We took a Camper hooked it to a Rambler and began the trip. We left Peaks Mill Kentucky and started out. Visited; the Crater Rock, Painted dessert, Grand canyon, Ghost towns,Death Valley, Yellow stone National Park, Salt Lake City,California, Las Vegas and many more places. Believed we traveled though 17 states. I enjoyed the adventure. Mom would read info about the place we were traveling to in the car. My Brothers and I played car games. The ones like Car Bingo, Sign alphabet and some we invented.
Later in life I moved to the west. Lived in Colorado, California, Texas, Indiana and Missouri. My Husband and I visited some of the same sites in the 1980. I wanted to share some of my memories with him. Now it is time to share them with my Daughter.
I am so excited about this trip. Having family time Planing, Plotting the route and researching what is out there. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
I thought about traveling Route 66. This is an old route across the west,so much History. We will be driving, supporting the economy. I will not be towing a camper. Those day are over for me. I like a hotel with amenities.
All I have to say now is: Lets start the Show.
