Aloha Friday- Favorite Brand Discontinued?

I have been looking for a favorite sweetener I had grown to like. Been using it for a year. Each time we go to a store I have been looking for it but have not been able to eye it. Today I asked hubby to pick up three boxes when he go to the commissary. He told me he has not been able to find it for the last three visits. That got me thinking....Maybe the company is not making it any more. So, I went to the site and found this message.....

We’ve been very excited to offer SUN CRYSTALS® All-Natural Sweetener as an option in the world of natural sweeteners–which makes it disappointing to share the news that SUN CRYSTALS® has been discontinued due to unmet sales expectations.

Your support and loyalty have been inspiring and much appreciated, and we’d like to thank all of you that welcomed us into your homes.

Best,
The SUN CRYSTALS® family

What a heart sinking feeling! Now I will have to find a new sweetener that will not effect my metabolism.

Have you had a product discontinued, How did you you feel about it?
Do you have a sweetener that you like to use?

  1. I'm sure over the many years there have been products I liked and they were discontinued.

I use sugar in my ice tea, and in my hot tea I use these tiny tablets of saccharin, called Necta Sweet.

  2. Gigi, I use to use those Saccharin tablets. However they do slow down the metabolism. Sugar is not good for me I an Hypoglycemic. thanks for the answer:)

  5. YES... I used Moonlit Path Body Spray by Calgon and literally I would get a compliment everyday!! I was super sad to see it discontinued!!
I use sugar for my sweetner or honey!

  6. That happens to me all the time. Or the store will just quit carrying my product.

    Have a great Friday!

  7. Oh yes, when Ivory dish washing liquid was discontinued back in the early 90's, I freaked. I am allergic (badly!) to all other brands, I can't even use the new Ivory/Dawn. I bought up as much original ivory liquid as I could and I have more than a lifetime supply in the basement Lol!

As for sweetner, I go for good old sugar.

  9. thanks for all the suggestions. Kristen,I have used truvia before. I didn't really like the after taste. I guess I will have to try it again. Sugar is not an option for me do to my sugar problems. Sugar makes me real tired and my body does not process it well, I am Hypoglycemic. So I need to feel a Low Gylcemic Index sweetener.

  11. Walmart is where I usually shop. I am a lemonade drinker they had a walmart brand that was very good and only .88c for a 2L. They stopped carrying it and came out with a sparkling brand, ewwww who wants sparkling lemonade? Not me, I've been meaning to complain guess I'll do that today LOL. I use good ol fashioned sugar...

  12. I don't drink sweetened drinks at all, but, my husband uses sweet & low (bleh!). I hate when you find a product you like and they discontinue it.

  13. I'm sure there are things that got discontinued - but I can't think of any right off the top of my head... :)

As for sweeteners, if you find something that works for you, I'd be interested in looking into it as well - I'm allergic to most artificial sweeteners, so I'm stuck with 'regular' sugar for now. :)

  14. YES...Marie Callenders stopped making their bagged meals (or at least the stores in our area stopped carrying them). They were delicious...and I haven't found anything as good to replace them.

Oh, and Taco Bell kept discontinuing my favorite items. Of course, they were always the newest thing...which usually got taken off the menu after the next newest thing. :-)

  15. Costco does that all the time to me...I buy a product and then all of a sudden it's gone. It might not be discontinued but I can't find it locally anymore.

I love truvia...tastes like real sugar...

  16. Okay, well I use to buy Banquet Chicken & Chateau Dumplings. You use to buy them anywhere, but now only certain places carry them, but I'm told they're still at certain stores. As far as sugar I use splenda.

  20. thanks everyone for commenting.
Good Girl Gone Green,I have used Stevia before, It has a very licorice taste. that is why I liked Sun crystals, it was a mixture of raw sugar and Stevia. Therefore the taste was a bit better for me.
Mr Cool, I used Splenda years ago and found out that I am allergic to the product. So I can not use that one. My husband uses it now.
