Monday's News- A Filled Weekend.

What a weekend we had! On Saturday we went to the Home Show on the post. Met a lady name Monica, she does murals. I am planning a Spring Project, moving my sewing room to a larger room. I am going to be checking out possibly having the room painted by her. Need to be thinking about a design, she said she has some ideas. Do you have any ideas?

Hubby and I have been looking at some deck furniture. The price for my taste was in the thousands. What can I say...I Love the finer things in life and with that comes $$$$ signs. So I decided to lower my desires, to be able to feel good about the cost. We strolled over to the Garden center, walked in and right in front of the store there it was! The prefect deck furniture at a good price of under 600 dollars for all four pieces. It was very comfy and exactly what I had been looking for.

Sunday went to church, wonderful sermon. It was Palm Sunday so a great surprise awaited us. All the Thousands of children filled the stage and isles, holding palm leaves and signing a couple songs. One of the song was Jumping up and Down. I love that song and yes all the children were jumping up and down to tell of Jesus' coming. I cried it was just so spiritually emotional to be there covered with so much love for our Lord Jesus.
After the service we met the family in the cafeteria, Critter gave me a Palm.
We parted and Hubby, daughter and I went to Winchester Virginia for an open house. My Nephew and his wife have a New Home. There was a lot of family there, It was nice to see them all. My Nephew has a wonderful new home.
On our way home we stopped at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant for dinner. It was very nice and the food and sites took us back to our times in Bavaria. We will have to go back there some time soon.
So how was your weekend?

Wednesday's Photo Anwser.

So here it is....... While in Las Vegas, Nevada we went to the Bellagio . Inside was the first fountain(#1). I loved all the color changes and the way the water shot up and over. There is a Ferris wheel loaded with plant turning over the fountain.
As for number 2, that one I thought someone whould get. Located on the Avenue of flags in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There are many fountains in Philadelphia all just as beautiful. This one I loved because the children and some older children were cooling off in it. Isn't that what fountains are for. It reminded me of Europe and the many fountains there.
Now for the 3rd photo, If you look closely you will see upside down Kisses around the heart fountain. The ones that everyone loves, Hershey of course. this heart shape fountain is located at Hershey Gardens in Hershey Pennsylvania. We all love that park, there are so many thing to see and play with. There was even music making stepping stones. My daughter loved making a song on them. I am sure we will be going there again this spring. After all what is spring without visiting a few Gardens.
Hope these photo will inspire you to visit some fountains and Gardens this spring and summer and have fun.

Great weekend, the weather was beautiful. Our temps where in the mid seventies.Saturday we got out in the yard and my daughter went to a pond for a walk. She comeback with a sunburn, didn't think she should of put sunscreen on. Lyd got some great photos, already posted on her Saturdays' post. Check her blog out.
Sunday Our Minister had a great sermon on the soil, Which soil are you? We always enjoy his sermons, the message is easy to understand. The congregation ask him a question each Sunday, midway through the sermon...SO WHAT!...he then tells us how it relates to us in this Century. The sermon, "The Crowd by the sea of Galilee", check it out... It will change your thought pattern.

We got to see Critter and Alex, I love seeing them, it has been a couple weeks. We have all had this virus going around. Of Course like any great Auntie I handed out M&Ms. I had ordered some for Lyd Sweet sixteenth birthday party. They had her face on them and the two dates, BD and AD. Along with happy birthday and Sweet 16. I ordered them on M&M.com, was very please with the service and how they arrived.

Talked to Dad on Sunday for over 2 hours! I just love talking to him. We are planning to be together for Easter this year. We talked about everything, religion, family, politics, cooking and vacations. I really miss him being closer.

Got to speak with my S-I-L Bonnie for a short time. they are not too far away, live in West Virginia. She informed me I have a farm in Farmville! Well that farm must be petty run down, I haven't even attended to it. Didn't even know I had one, talking about time to work on it, where in the day will I be able to do that? I have a lot of facebook friends who play Farmville. Must have checked it out and accidentally Bought the farm. So "FARM FOR SALE" sign will have to be going up.

My Favorite Song Weekend- An Irish Tune

Thought I would post a Irish tune. I love the Irish Tenors and they are singing Danny Boy. A great Irish melody. Written in 1910 by an English Lawyer name Frederick Weatherly. It was pinned to a different tune and sometime in 1913 it was sung to the tune "Londonderry Air". 1915 was the first time is was recorded. Later sung by Elsie Griffin who really made it a hit. In 1928 the second verse was added for the actress Ellen Terry. Danny Boy was originally believe to have been written from a women to a man. However it is sung more by men now. Even though is was written by an Englishman it is considered an Irish anthem. Throughout America and Canada it is loved and considered an Irish signature song. Has been sung by Glenn Miller band, Judy Garland, Maureen O-Hara , Connie Frances and even Elvis Presley as well as many more.
This is a 2010 video of The Irish Tenors version of Danny Boy. Enjoy.

This is my daughter, she has a blog. Her blog Ramblings from Lyd is mostly of photos she has taken and her thoughts on them.
She would like to have some visitors who will leave a comment for her. As a New blogger it is always nice to know if folks like your page.
Lyd just turned 16, loves to take photos, write and read books. Here's where a can brag, she wrote and published a book while in fifth grade. Involved in the Young Authors group. Of course we thought it was good. Have several copies on our bookshelf. Perhaps I can get her to post some text from it.

Flashback TV-Monday's Answer

Saturday I asked a question about Gilligan's Island. If you knew why the flags were flying at half staff in all the First seasons episodes. As I referred to in the un-aired episode "Marooned" post, that episode was never aired until 1992. The taping of the show begin on November the 22, 1963. That was the Day President John F Kennedy was assassinated. The film crew decided to continued to filming on that day. They filmed the opening scene departure on November 26 1963. So, all the flags were at half staff during that time. "Marooned" never aired as the pilot, it was buried in the archives. Twenty nine years later it was aired. Due to the change in actors and reconstructing in characters.

Gilligan's Island was first aired September 26 1964. It was episode 101, broadcast on CBS at 8:30 pm. That was the Family Hour. some folks refer to this as the pilot. However is really was not. Perhaps they thought it was a bad omen to film another pilot. As to the Flag flying half mast, that was purposely done in remembrance of our President's death. My thought is they never thought of changing the opening scene during the first season year 1964, for our nation was still in mourning. The second season I notice they took the half staff Flag scene out.
If you miss the Flashback TV show nights, there will be a link to them on the top sidebar. I will leave it up for the month. There were three showcased, the Un-aired Pilot "Marooned", first seasons opening show " Two on a Raft" and the first second season episode "Gilligan's Mother-In-Law".

If there is a Flashback TV show you would like to see, leave me the title in the comments. I will see if I can get it.

Flash Back TV Show Night at Auntie E's

We are continuing with our Gilligan Island episode.
You will notice it's in color now. Also you will hear the song sung differently, the Professor and Maryann now get billing. The opening is different also. In the First season and the first pilot (never aired until 1992)"Marooned", the American flag is flying at half staff as the minnow leaves the port. Do you know Why? If you have time you can view the other two, their links are on the sidebar. I will give you the answer on Monday.
This one is the first episode for the second season. Gilligan has a chance to get off the Island, Will he take it?

Friday's Question-Televsion Flashback

My Dad worked in Television when I was young. We lived in Cincinnati Ohio when I was about five years old. Don't really remember watching much television, my brother's and I would Play outside. Most folks can remember having a television and watching it all the time. For me the first time I really remember watching it is about the age of thirteen. At that time we lived in Rochester New York, I was in the seventh grade. back then there was no middle schools, so I was going to high school. In the 1960's Television really took off, Most people by that time, could afford a television. My Dad was once again was working in Television. Shows were starting to emerge that were family friendly. Like, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Andy Griffin Show, The Avengers, Flipper, Get Smart, Gilligan's Island, Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C, and many more. The networks were flooded. Television came on at about 9 am and went off about 11pm. No 24 hour television like today.
I have been posting a TV Flashback Series this past week (link on upper right side bar).We are looking at Gilligan's Island and the differences in the seasons episodes. Tomorrow post be the first episode of the second season.

Since Friday's are Ask A Question Day Here is yours:

What was your favorite Television show you first remember watching?

Mine was Dark Shadows a weekly soap opera. I would rush home from High School to watch it.

Flashback TV-Monday's Answer

So here is the first aired show. As I stated in Saturdays post the Song and characters are different. Now to the answer to the question, it is the Radio. In the un-aired pilot (posted on Saturday) the radio was swallowed by a fish. In this, the first aired one, the radio appears only one time and not again. As to the song the one that appears in this video is the one we are all familiar with. The characters are very familiar, since these are the ones we are use to seeing on the TV series.

Gilligan Island ran for Three season, from 1964-1967, The theme song was different in season one than in seasons 2 and 3. Interesting note, the Professor and Maryann were referred to as "and the rest" in the first season. Then in the second and third season they got billing and their characters name were placed in the title song. That is the one most people remember.

This is the first aired Show. Listen closely to the tile song. Next Saturday I will post one from the second season.

Flash Back TV Show Night at Auntie E's

Gilligan's Island first show was released 1964. It ran for 3 seasons and had 99 episodes. The first 36 were in Black and white and the rest in color. It was One of my favorite comedy.
This pilot was never aired. the show was restructured and the characters and song are changed. One thing it very different in this pilot then the opening show broadcast, Do you know what it is? Hint it has to do with the fish. Leave your guess in the comments. I will show and tell on Monday.
Enjoy Running time 24:26.
