Aloha Friday -Neat &Clean Teen Rooms

So here it is Friday. A day for just laying back and visiting bloggers friends to leave our two cents on their blogs. Kailani over at An island life likes to take it easy on this day. So some of us started to join in, Our community is big so, why not join in and meet some new bloggers.

Here's your Question:

Does your Teen have a neat and clean room?
Did you as a teen have a neat and clean Room?
Now here's the real clincher, did the Teen or the Mother do the work?

Okay I know it's three questions but some times to get the real story it takes three tries. So here is mine...As a teen I did pick up my room and clean it. My Mom made sure I did. It was always Neat and tidy. My Teen is not as neat as I was. She is getting better at it though. I tried not doing it but could not stand it. So I will make the bed and pick up the room daily if she hasn't. No this is not a Free service Now that she is a teen. It will cost her, time. Her time to do the things she wants to. I charge one hour for each time I clean it. That hour is to be given to me for what ever I need done on the weekend. If I do her cleaning five times a week, she owes me five hours. There is a lot of weeding out I need to do, having the help will be great! Although Daughter vows not to owe me anymore time.

  1. My room was fairly clean. However, my kids rooms were atrocious!

  2. Teens seem to have their own definition of what is a 'clean room'.

I like your idea of owing time on the weekend!

  5. As a teen my room was spotless. I have 3 teen boys, their rooms are okay, usually some discarded clothing on the floor. I do not clean their rooms, they do.

  6. My room was only clean when my parents got after me. I love your idea though. I might have to start implementing it.

  7. Oooh, I like your ideas with the time. I'll have to remember that! My room was always clean. I don't have a teenager yet - my oldest is 11 but getting there slowly. He knows that come Friday if his room isn't clean - no fun that weekend (no friends, no Wii, no playstation, etc.)

  11. My room as a teen was mostly clean! When our son was a teenager, he always kept his room very clean, but daughter's room always looked like a tornado had gone thru!! But now she keeps her apt. really clean - guess they just grow out of it??!!

  12. As a teen I had a nightmare of a room! My mother used to just walk by and close the door. I am now a bit of a tidy freak. My teens all had messy rooms and now they are relatively tidy as adults. I think it's a teen thing.

  13. No, my teen (well she's past that now), didn't have a clean room. But, I did not do it for her. I merely closed the door. I never collected items from her room when I did the laundry. Kids have different priorities and it wasn't a fight I thought worthwhile. If they need something that doesn't get laundered a time or two because we've not backed them up...they have a whole new perspective on it.

While you're getting what you think is trade for your labor; she's still not the one doing it. She's still relying on you to do it, and when she goes away to college; that system won't work. Close the door and give yourself some time to relax, time to do something you want. Let her room be a mess until she can't stand it any longer.
